Autumn Play Away day 2026

Sunday 8 November 2026 | Broughton High School, Edinburgh | 10am–4pm

The Scottish Schools Orchestra Trust (SScOT) is bringing the joy of making music together to Edinburgh this November, and we’d love you to join us!

Our next Play Away Day takes place at Broughton High School on Sunday 8 November, offering young musicians aged 9–15 a fantastic opportunity to play in an ensemble, develop their musical skills, meet new friends and enjoy a day filled with music.

Open to musicians playing orchestral or wind band instruments at Grade 2 standard and above, the day is suitable for both experienced ensemble players and those who are trying SScOT for the very first time.

Never been to SScOT before? No problem! There are no auditions, and you don’t need any previous SScOT experience to take part.

Our Play Away Days are all about bringing young musicians together in a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy making music, build confidence and discover the excitement of playing as part of a team.

Whether you’re already part of the SScOT family or are thinking about joining us for the first time, you’ll be made very welcome.

Everyone has a place at SScOT!

A day of music, friendship and fun

Participants will spend the day rehearsing with fellow musicians, learning new music and experiencing the thrill of playing together as part of an ensemble. The day finishes with an informal sharing concert, giving everyone the chance to celebrate what they have achieved.

It’s a brilliant opportunity to make music, make friends and be part of something special — all in just one day!
