February Play Away Day – In Pictures
On Sunday 25 February, 61 energetic young musicians gathered at St George’s School in Edinburgh for our February Play Away Day. Photographer Will Searle captured some brilliant moments from the rehearsals – can you spot yourself in any of the pictures?
The string orchestra, conducted by Joanna Petrie, performed Sarabande by Handel, American Fiddler’s Hoedown (arr. John Leavitt) and Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music. The wind band, conducted by Susan Dingle, performed Come to the Sea (arr C Melville-Mason), All aboard for Dixieland by S D Eisch, and Colonel Bogey by Kenneth J Alford. As always, we were hugely impressed at the amount they were able to achieve over the course of a day.
February Play Away Day, in numbers:
We welcomed 30 girls and 31 boys, aged 8-15, from 39 different schools in 13 local authorities across central and southern Scotland, playing 12 different instruments.
Our next Play Away Day will take place in November 2018 – to be the first to find out more, join our mailing list.
